Title: Leather and Lace Author: DiAnn Mills Publisher: Barbour Books ISBN: 1-59789-127-4 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Romance
Casey 0’Hare is tired of the years she spent running with the Jenkins’ gang. She never wanted to join in the first place, but she and her brother needed work, and this was a way for quick money. Since Casey is considered Jenkins’ Woman, now the gang is after her. She will die for deserting the gang.
Morgan Andrews is after Jenkins too. Years earlier, Jenkins killed Morgan’s beautiful bride. Now hate rules Morgan’s life and he knows the pawn to Jenkins is Casey. He trails her and takes her hostage before the outlaws catch up with them.
By the time the outlaws find them, Morgan has begun to develop feelings for Casey. When he’s shot and she helps to nurse him back to health, he’s determined to not use her for a pawn any longer, but to help her. As a lawyer, he can. But the outlaws have raised the bounty on Casey’s head and she’s disappeared. Can he find her before the outlaws do?
Leather and Lace is the first book in the Texas Legacy series. Casey is a unique heroine. As a former gang member she is tough, and yet she longs to be a lady. Morgan is ruled by hatred, and longs to see Jenkins dead. It is interesting to see both these characters come to Christ and see how they change and grow.
I enjoyed Leather and Lace and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Lanterns and Lace, due out in September 2006. Leather and Lace is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it. $12.95. 318 pages. |
