Title: Lasso Her Heart Author: Anna Schmidt Publisher: Love Inspired ISBN: 0-373-87409-X Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance
Bethany Taft’s life has always been charmed—at least until her fiancé is tragically killed in the mountains of Arizona. Bethany thought her chance at happiness was gone forever, and she turned into a shell of her former self. But now, Bethany’s aunt is getting married and she wants Bethany to be the wedding planner. Thinking that the wedding would be in Chicago, Bethany agrees. Then she learns that the wedding will be in the mountains of Arizona. The very mountains Nick was killed in.
Cody Dillard is the groom’s son, and the rancher. Cody flew to Chicago to pick Bethany up and take her to Arizona in his private plane. Cody goes out of his way to be nice to Bethany but there’s no way he’s going beyond that. She reminds him too much of his former fiancée, a city girl through and through who would never be at home on an Arizona ranch.
But as the wedding planning begins, Cody and Bethany are forced together for hours on end. Can Bethany learn to love the mountains that killed Nick? Will Cody learn that not all city girls are cut from the same mold?
Lasso Her Heart is a new approach to the cowboy stories of the west. I’m not overly fond of cowboy romances, but I liked the approach that Anna Schmidt took in this book. Cody is a loveable hero, and Bethany is healing from a horrible tragedy yet trying to function in a trying situation.
The story is well told, the characters realistically developed, and the faith message expertly woven in. I even liked the carefully told descriptions of the rugged country-side of Arizona. I could almost picture it. Don’t miss Lasso Her Heart. It is truly a heartwarming story. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. $4.99.248 pages. |
