Title: Landon Snow and the Auctor’s Riddle Author: R. K. Mortenson Publisher: Barbour Publishers ISBN: 1-59310-881-8 Genre: Inspirational/Juvenile/Fantasy
Landon Snow goes to visit his grandfather and is excited about the big trip they plan to take to the library in the morning. But that night, Landon’s grandfather has an accident and ends up in the hospital. Landon is crushed. Will the trip to the library be postponed? Will his beloved grandfather be all right?
Later, when Landon is trying to sleep, a bookcase mysteriously opens, revealing a secret passageway. Landon is at a loss. Should he follow the passageway? If so, where will he end up?
What happens is the strangest adventure ever a boy could have. Landon could tell you all about being swallowed by a book, falling from the sky on horseback, fleeing a hail of arrows through a forest, or watching a gigantic gold coin flipping through the sky . . . but is it mere circumstance? Or is it teaching Landon something he needs to know?
Landon Snow and the Auctor’s Riddle is a cute children’s story complete with hidden passageways, flying arrows, horses, and a thousand other things guaranteed to appeal to children of all ages. Even though I am no longer a child, I enjoyed the nonsensical story taking us on a wild ride through fantasy land . . . or could it be real life? It was fascinating trying to help Landon try to solve a riddle and some of the clues were confusing at best.
The faith message is expertly woven in. I enjoyed Landon Snow and the Auctor’s Riddle and recommend it for younger readers between the ages of seven and twelve. My ten-year-old daughter enjoyed the story, but thought bits of it were silly, but then . . . fantasy is supposed to be. $12.95. 223 pages. |
