by: Vickie McDonough Dancing Word Reviewer Title: Hunter's Bride Author: Marta Perry Genre: Inspirational/Romance Chloe Caldwell's little fib backfired?big time. In her effort to pacify her zealous, matchmaking grandmother, Chloe might have falsely hinted that she was dating her boss. Much to Chloe's chagrin, Gran sent Luke Hunter a personal invitation to visit Caldwell Island and attend her eightieth birthday celebration. Now Chloe has to set the record straight, even if it costs her job and her family's contempt. Luke Hunter is amused and a little surprised his efficient assistant would perpetrate such a scam. Going along with her scheme might just work in his favor. Luke is searching for the perfect site for the next Dalton Resort, and Chloe is the key. She may have just handed him the vice-presidency on a silver platter. But being around Chloe's family and their homespun Christian values is a little like living with the Walton family, and Luke finds the rigid walls he has carefully erected around him are beginning to crumble. When he realizes the depths of his feelings for Chloe, Luke has to make a decision that could cost him his hard-earned job or the lady he has come to love. Hunter's Bride is a charming tale of old fashion family values confronting today's dog-eat-dog mentality. Marta Perry has crafted a very believable tale in which the hero and heroine both struggle with the choices they've made and the consequences of those choices. She masterfully captures Luke's difficult struggle to lay aside his painful past and well-honed, hardedge executive mentality and open up to Chloe's loving and accepting family. Ms. Perry's vivid description of beautiful Caldwell Island has me anxious to visit. Don't miss out on Hunter's Bride, the first book in an inspirational series about the Caldwell Clan. I heartily recommend Hunter's Bride for a fascinating read. | |
