Do you take going to church and Sunday school for granted? Do your parents have to force you to get up every Sunday morning? Well, did you know that not everyone is free to go to church and worship God as they please?
That’s what life is like for Tran Fang living in Vietnam. In that country, if anyone catches you worshiping God, or even witnessing to someone, you could be sent to prison, where you are tortured and beaten until you either renounce your Christianity, or die. This story chronicles the life of the Tran family, and gives an accurate idea of what Christians in Vietnam go through today.
Note: This book is not recommended for younger readers. Written from a child's perspective, this book was created to make people aware of the Christian oppression in Vietnam. There is even a list of ways you can help the Hmong. It made me angry to think that the Vietnamese government would want to kill off all Christians in that country! I hope it will get your attention too, just as it did mine. |
