Genre: Inspirational/Romantic/Mystery/Suspense

Dr. Cheyenne Allison is used to handling trauma in the Emergency Room, at least until the day her sister, Susan, comes in with problems. Cheyenne gives Susan some medicine and warns her not to drive while taking this medication. Susan agrees, and Cheyenne calls a cab to take Susan home.

Hours later, Cheyenne is devastated when Susan codes in the E.R. after being in an auto accident. In spite of Cheyenne’s warnings and Susan’s promises, her sister had been driving.

Brokenhearted, Cheyenne retreats to a friend’s cabin in Hideaway, Missouri. The perfect place to get past the horrible nightmare Cheyenne is experiencing. Her brother-in-law is suing her for malpractice, claiming she never warned Susan not to drive while on the medication. And it appears he is going to win. The hospital she works with is urging her to settle out of court. Cheyenne has a lot to work through as she hides out in Hideaway.

But Hideaway is suffering its own problems, and in spite of herself, Cheyenne finds herself in the midst of it. A vandal has the community terrorized and the mayor feels the problem lies with the boys’ ranch right across the lake from Cheyenne. With fire, murder, and mayhem in the community, Cheyenne soon finds that her medical skills are in demand, especially since Hideaway has no doctor of its own.

Will Cheyenne ever find peace? Can she hope to resolve the problem with her brother-in-law over Susan’s death without everyone assuming she’s guilty? Can she solve the problems in Hideaway? And what about the two men in Hideaway who are pursuing her? Austin, the mayor, who is intent to close down the boys’ ranch, claiming the boys are dangerous criminals? Or Dane, the owner of the ranch, who is a devout Christian and vouches for his boys’ innocence?

If you’ve read any of Hannah Alexander’s other books, Hideaway is sure to be just as exciting read. If you haven’t read her books, but are addicted to E.R. on television, Hannah Alexander is the writer you’ve looked for. Her books are full of medical drama, mystery, and suspense. I couldn’t put her book down; it held my interest from page one. As the days grow cooler and life is quieter with the kids in school, Hideaway is the book to read. It’s a keeper.  I’m eagerly awaiting the second book in this series.
