What better way to capture the spirit of this glorious season than this offering of a Gaither family Christmas?
He Started the Whole World Singing, songwriter Gloria Gaither tells the story behind the lyrics of some of the Gaither’s Christmas songs that fans will recognize from attending concerts, buying CDs and videos, or watching them perform on television. Gloria Gaither shares the story about how each song was written, whether the music or the lyrics were written first, and what caused her to think of the words to write. She also shares tales about some of the musician friends they’ve made over the years.
As an extra treat, toward the end of the book are several Gaither family recipes. Some of them sound really good, making me want to try them.
A bonus CD is included inside the hardcover edition, with each of the songs mentioned in the book on it, in case readers aren’t familiar with some of the songs. Words are included for each song in the book, so readers can sing along, if they feel so inclined.
This book would make a wonderful gift for any music lover, especially fans of Bill and Gloria Gaither. Readers will enjoy the down-home feel of the book and learning about the history of the songs they hear. $19.99. 200 pages.
