When Jill Cooper went to the local spa (to support her sister), she is having a running banter with her old high school principal, Edith Potts, through a curtained room, when someone comes in and murders Edith. Jill tries to resuscitate Edith, but all attempts fail, even when the emergency team responds, and Edith is declared dead at the sight.

Two of Jill’s former sweethearts have come back to town, causing Jill to relive all her traumas, secrets, and dreams of happiness. But then another death occurs. In spite of the fact that it appears to be accidental, Jill begins to wonder. Are the deaths somehow related?

Grave Risk is yet another of Hannah Alexander’s Hideaway series. I usually enjoy Ms. Alexander’s books, but this one seems a bit contrived, and the beginning cast of characters a bit overwhelming. Most of the characters in all Ms. Alexander’s book were reintroduced in the first few chapters, even if they don’t come into play during the rest of the book. It made it difficult to get into the story and confusing for the reader.

However, once I got into the story, I enjoyed it and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Grave Risk is a top-notch suspense. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. $13.95. 368 pages.
