The world is full of difficult people. Thankfully I am not one of them. Florence Littauer makes that point when she asks people who take her class to list all the things they don’t like about other people. Their list is long, including things like complainer, gossiper, liars, bigots, and on, and on, and on.  But when asked to list their faults, the same people came up with overeating, preoccupied, poor willpower, etc. Not a difficult person in the whole bunch.

To be honest, all of us have our moments when difficult is the only word that fits us. Florence Littauer profiles people like Sally Spiritual, Marvin Music, Sam Sermon, Joyce Judging, Bob Bossy, Debbie Depressed, Gloria Gossip, and others. I recognized myself a couple of times. She does a good job of pointing out those weaknesses we see in others and ignore in ourselves.

The reader will also find good advice on how to handle difficult situations, quoting experts like the Apostle Paul, who had to deal with his share of difficult people. There is even a Parade of Pious Personalities Skit at the end of the book. Florence Littauer is an internationally known speaker and the author of nearly thirty books. I enjoyed this one.
