Title: Gardenias for Breakfast Author: Robin Jones Gunn Publisher: Westbow ISBN: 0-849-94447-3 Genre: Inspirational/Women/Fiction
Imagine living in Hawai. Sun-kissed days, wind-swept mountains, crystal blue sea, yet a deep longing for the continental United States. Abby finds her ideal life interrupted by a desire to go “home” and connect with her roots, specifically her Louisiana grandmother. Abby wants her twelve-year-old daughter to meet ninety-two year-old Grand Lady and experience the magical love she dispenses.
Unexpectedly, Abby’s wish is granted and a car trek across the states begins. Relative to relative, connections are made. Will Grand Lady fulfill Abby’s dream and crown Hannah with fragrant blessings? Or has time embellished Abby’s memories? Deeply hidden heart bruises reveal secrets where forgiveness must be addressed.
Robin Jones Gunn majestically paints a word picture of mother-daughter relationships and their discordant colors which only Jesus can air brush. Gunn’s talented use of words is true artistry.
As a mother of daughters, I found this compelling book one I must read again.
