When Jason Becker's best friend, Cami Fauncini, has a baby out of wedlock, he offers to marry her and become little Robbie's father. Hopes of reuniting with Robbie's real father keep Cami from saying yes. For three years, Jason fulfills the role of godfather, loving Robbie and helping raise him, then suddenly, Cami packs up and moves, leaving Jason deeply wounded and missing the two people he loves most.

Now Cami and Robbie have returned to town, but Jason can't set aside his hurt. Still, he offers her a job working as bookkeeper for his construction company. As a Christian, Jason knows he should forgive Cami, but the past hurts keep him from closing the gap between them. It's said lightening never strikes twice in one place, but can love?

From Now On, the sequel to Cougar Lake, is an inspirational novella about putting the past behind, forgiving, and starting anew. My heart ached for Jason, and Cami as well, as she struggled to deal with the choices she'd made and how they affect her son. Robbie made a sweet and charming secondary character.

As an avid reader, I generally figure out the ending early on, but this book had an interesting twist I didn't see coming. A gently woven faith message and excellent characterization make
From Now On a quick and satisfying read.
