Title: From Bad to Worse Author: Todd Hafer and Jedd Hafer Publishers: NavPress ISBN: 1-57683-970-2 Genre: Inspirational/Teen/Fiction
Griffin Smith is on the road again and escorting his friend Amanda Mac from the west cost back to Kansas. He’s alone in a car with Amanda and he’s in love. This trip could be the answer to his prayer, except his dad insisted Griffin promises he will keep himself chaste for the entire trip. Only at first, Griffin, thought he said chased, which was a bit confusing.
Griffin has his share of problems. His mother ran away with a man who writes erotic fiction, his dad has a new girlfriend, who cheats on him, and his little brother so mixed up and angry he hurts physically hurts himself. And then there’s God. Griffin believes in God, he just doesn’t have it all figured out.
Teens today, even Christian teens, deal with some very heavy problems. Life isn’t perfect and sometimes we get hurt. Griffin knows about hurt. He’s just doing the best he can to hold his life together, but there are too many people depending on him for more than he has to give.
However, God has surprised in store for Griffin. As he struggles to deal with all the problems complicating his world, he learns that no matter how messy life gets, we’re not alone. God meant it when he said, “Lo, I am with you always.” But, like Griffin Smith, sometimes we have to get out of the way and let him take charge.
