A mother’s nightmare. Footsteps is the tale of a mother’s worst nightmare. Affluent homemaker, Debra Patterson takes her young children on a back-to-school shopping spree. While at the mall, she loses Lauren and Chad. Debra’s world crashes in an instant.

Police arrive and an investigation ensues. Everything she holds dear changes when they discover her husband missing, too. What will Debra use to keep her going? A grasp at alcohol proves it to be a faithless friend.

The start of a new life is shadowed by the old. Flickers of the past keep her from living the present. Thoughts of her children fuel her desire to remain sane. Two loyal friends walk with her through the tragedy, and their faith beckons to Debra.

Anger at a God who would allow a mother to lose a child keeps her from falling to her knees. Only when she reaches out to others does Debra find the answers she needs.

This book should come with a label warning those who grab it to set aside time to read. The vivid characters Mills portrays grab your heart and won’t let go. I highly recommend this well-crafted novel written by a talented artist!
