Title: Fire Dancer Author: Colleen Coble Publisher: WestBow Press ISBN: 1-5955-4139-X Genre: Inspirational/Romantic/Suspense
Firefighter Tess Masterson talks her friend into a final jump from an airplane with her, and her friend lands wrong, ending up in a coma. But on the way down, she tells Tess that someone is trying to kill her. Tell laughs it off. Now the firefighters Tess works with are moving on, and Tess is being left behind to help her sister, Stevie, run the ranch. Stevie has been diagnosed with Lupus and is not feeling well.
But the first day back, Tess runs into her long time enemy, Chase Huston. And soon after that, she notices that someone has tried to start a fire on their property. No one take her seriously when she mentions it.
Soon, fires are blazing more often that usual, and Tess is forced to turn to Chase for help when her family and land are threatened. Will they find the arsonist before someone is killed?
Fire Dancer is the first book in Ms. Coble’s new Smoke Jumpers series and I was so looking forward to reading it. Set in Arizona, it promised to have lots of information about smoke jumpers, lots of suspense, and even a romance. And it did.
However, I was disappointed in Fire Dancer. I never grew to care for the characters. They seemed flat, never developing into ‘real people’. However, the suspense issue did keep the pages turning, as I wanted to find out who the arsonist was. Fans of Colleen Coble will not want to miss Fire Dancer. $14.99. 304 pages.
