Miranda Carson has always wanted to have a father. Living with her actress mother, Eve, life was unstable at best. Eve invented a beautiful story about how Miranda came to be, but when asked questions about who her father was, Eve avoided the question. When Eve died, Miranda was taken in with an older woman who tried to find Miranda’s real father, but they had no luck tracing the Jay Ames listed on the birth certificate.
With nothing to go on but a faded photograph, a name, and a theatre play guide, Miranda travels to the United Kingdom. There she meets a wonderful couple who invite her to attend a play with them. Miranda initially refuses, but changes her mind. From there she’s invited to the party after the play, and she sees the likeness to her wallet displayed in her hostess’s home.
Miranda is tore. She knows who her father is now, but should she destroy the wonderful family that’s taken her in?
Finding Father Christmas is another treasure by this award winning author. Written in a lyrical style, in first person. I loved this story, and went to look if the sequel, Engaging Father Christmas, is available yet. But that will be coming out later in 2008.
