Title: Feather Author: Susan Page Davis Publishers: BJU Press ISBN: 1591666686 Genre: Juvenile/Fantasy
Although Feather is written for ages 9-12, readers of any age will enjoy this book. From the minute I met Feather and her brother Karsh, I was hooked.
When Feather is captured by the Blens, the worse and the most feared enemy of the Wobans, she is locked in a pitiless struggle to survive. Karsh, who wasn’t taken, vows to find his sister and restore her to the Woban tribe, but he has no idea where to begin his search.
The Blens, a nomadic tribe, survive by attacking other villages and taking what they want, killing and capturing the inhabitants. Feather must learn to adapt to the ways of the Blens if she wants to live. She holds onto the promise that there will come a day when the dark and the light are equal, broken things will be mended, and lost things will be found.
Susan Page Davis’ Feather is an exciting, fascinating story with complex characters and a spellbinding plot. I’ve read her romances and enjoyed them, but she has a definite talent for fantasy. Buy this book for the young readers on your list, but be sure to read it yourself. You’ll enjoy every step of the journey.
