Title: A Family for Kate Author: LeAnne Hill Publisher: Mountain View Publishing ISBN: 0-931-74220-0 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance
Jared Lambert, whose covert business takes him away for six months at a time, was unaware of his brother’s death. He is shocked to hear about the accident and to find Kate in charge of the children. Everyone knows Kate never wanted kids. Jared is grateful his brother made him the legal guardian of the children, and now that he’s home, he’ll take over, allowing Kate to get back to her job.
Kate’s heart is breaking. Her love for the children has grown over the months and she can’t stand the thought of losing them. When Jared offers her a marriage of convenience for the kid’s sake, she jumps at the chance to marry the man she has secretly loved for years. But she soon learns being married to the kind, handsome man isn’t enough. She longs to be his wife in more than just name. Can he ever learn to love her even though she’s far from the woman of his dreams?
Jared’s discovered the jungle accident that nearly took his life was sabotage, meant to kill him, not just wound him. The unidentified foe has picked up Jared’s trail, putting his new family in danger. When Jared makes a startling discovery, one that shakes the foundations of his world, he lashes out at Kate. Wounded and despairing, Kate ventures outside alone at night, something Jared warned her never to do. Now Jared’s nemesis has his wife and uses her for bait. Will Jared ever see Kate alive again? Can he and the children survive another loss if she never returns?
I have to say I loved A Family for Kate. You can’t help feel for Kate, a woman who’s given up so much to care for her sister’s children. Enter Jared, a take-charge, Secret Service type guy with a big heart, but typically male. LeAnne Hill does an expert job of crafting her characters into someone you will fall in love with. A Family for Kate is basically a romance but with Jared’s clandestine job and the persistent stalker threatening his life, there is plenty of excitement and suspense. I found this book to be fun, exciting and a heart-warming romance. Two thumbs up to LeAnne Hill. | |
