Title: Fair Game Author: Carol Cox Publisher: Barbour ISBN: 1-59789-491-5 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Suspense
Dinah Mayhew has come to Chicago to work at the World’s Columbian Exposition, and she’s never seen so many people in her life. She has a good place to stay, an agreeable landlady, and she’s just met a very handsome man named Seth Howell. Life doesn’t get any better than this.
It can, of course, get worse, and soon it does. Living in Chicago isn’t all she expected. Yes, it is exciting, and she loves being with Seth, but there’s a darker side. Young women are disappearing off the streets of Chicago, including Gladys, the cousin who made Dinah’s life miserable when they were growing up.
Gladys still isn’t all that endearing, but Dinah does owe her aunt and uncle something for raising her, so she sets out to find her wayward cousin. Soon Dinah and Seth are tangled in an underground web of deception and evil. Can they find the missing women without losing their own lives?
Carol Cox's Fair Game is an exciting blend of history, intrigue, and romance. Her characters are strong and memorable. Every bit as good as her Ticket To Tomorrow, Fair Game is historical suspense at its best.
