Double Exposure was written by Kathy Wierenga using characters created by Lissa Halls Johnson. This Brio Girls novel features Hannah Connor Hannah Connor, the newest of the Brio Girls, has strong spiritual and moral convictions. She isn't quiet about them either. She's quick to point out faults in others, and as quick to evangelize and tell others about God. Hannah doesn't date because her family believes in courtship. When the chance to talk about courtship comes up in class, Hannah jumps at the chance to give her view that courtship is superior to dating in every way. But then she finds herself in a romantic triangle. Baffled by her own raging emotions, Hannah grapples with guilt and shame and wonders if she still really believes that courtship is best. Though her friends, the Brio Girls encourage her and pray for her, Hannah even wonders if God still hears her prayers. Kathy Wierengai, a writer and director for Adventures in Odyssey , serves on the staff at Focus on the Family. She took characters created by Lissa Halls Johnson and wrote a credible book about the controversy of courtship and dating. Also, Wierengais gives the reader an in-depth look at the heart of Hannah, the most spiritual of the Brio girls. The cover shows blonde, blue eyed Hannah Connor in her traditional snow gear, camera in hand. Though there are no interior illustrations, the back has pictures of the Brio Girls, and Tyler. Readers will recognize Double Exposure as another advertisement for Brio magazine and Brio clubs. Double Exposure shows courting as a valid alternative to teenage dating. While teenagers and their parents might not be moved to consider courtship, they will find Hannah's dilemma compelling. |
