Title: Adventures of Riley--Dolphins In Danger Authors: Amanda Lumry and Laura Hurwitz Illustrator: Sarah McIntyre Publisher: Eaglemont Press ISBN: 0-9748411-1-0 Genre: Children’s Fiction
Adventures of Riley—Dolphins In Danger is a cute, informative book about one of our most popular sea animals.
When Riley’s uncle invites him to visit, Riley is thrilled by his uncles promises to take him out to see a dolphin lagoon. Riley is excited about the trip to the Tahitian island of Moorea, but he thought he would be visiting a place similar to Sea World—he didn’t realize the dolphins he’d see would be actually free-living sea creatures.
But when Riley and Uncle Max head out to sea, they discover a pod of trapped dolphins! Can Riley and Uncle Max save them in time?
Dolphins In Danger is colorfully illustrated and quickly became a favorite story of both my nine-year-old and my three-year-old daughters. I liked all the additional fun facts about sea creatures and other information that are included as facts in this interesting and attention-holding story. Information such as how lagoons are formed from volcanoes . . . and where vanilla comes from. The fun facts make this a great book for the homeschool family – or anyone who has an enquiring mind.
I highly recommend this cool book for the keeper shelf. My daughters can’t get enough of it and want it read to them nightly. Pick up a copy today for your favorite child. It is educational and entertaining. Included at the back are a glossary, hidden pictures, and other cool information. $15.95 hardcover. 35 pages. |
