Paula Franklin thought the dream she and her husband shared of owning a Christian bed and breakfast ended with his untimely passing. Five years later God has healed her grieving heart with a covering of cherished memories and brought her to the doorstep of an old farmhouse to realize that dream.

Kristi Franklin, Paula’s adult daughter, is dead set against it, adamantly so. She wants Paula to use the inheritance left by her father to invest in her stock brokerage firm. So much so that she will stop at nothing to get it; including suing her mother, attempting to prove her incompetent. But Paula believes God brought her to the farmhouse and will bless her ministry there.

Proceeding with the purchase of the home she hires contractor Rick Davenport to do the renovations. Paula learns Rick is a Christian and that his grandmother was the previous owner. The two become fast friends. Together they turn the old farm into a beautiful bed and breakfast Paula lovingly calls The Country Charm.

Paula and Rick’s relationship develops into more than a simple friendship when Rick declares the depth of his feelings. Still Paula is hesitant. With the schism between Kristi and her, Paula is uncertain and somewhat afraid of her own feelings.

Discovering Rick has a heart problem throws Paula into a tailspin. Her husband, John, died from heart failure. Feeling Rick has not been forthright with her, Paula questions their relationship. The idea of loving and losing someone to a heart attack again is unbearable.

Ask anyone, anywhere and you will find all have been touched by the grief of losing a loved one. DiAnn Mills presents a poignant story of the effects this particular heartache brings. We see that for those who bring their broken hearts to the cross there is hope and healing. I highly recommend a trip to the
Country Charm.
