Title: Consider the Lilies Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Fiction "You’ll be sorry you did this foolish thing . . . You’re making the biggest mistake of your lives!" Hannah Cooper hears her father’s bitter words again as she pulls away from her husband’s fresh grave. Just the night before she had shared with him the exciting news they were expecting another child. Solomon had been so excited. But before dawn, he was dead, bitten by a rattlesnake while trying to save Hannah. Hannah is faced with tough decisions now. Should she continue west and try to fulfill Solomon’s dreams to open a general store? Or slink back home and try to make a living there? After a lot of soul searching, Hannah decides to go west. She is faced with many hardships on the trail west, but most of the people help her, stepping in to fill Solomon’s shoes when the need arose. Finally, they reach their destination. Hannah is welcomed by the whole community with open arms, especially when they learn she is still planning on opening the general store. Things seem to be going wonderful for Hannah and her children until a single act of malice destroys the family’s only hope for survival. With this stunning blow, Hannah’s faith is shaken. Had she come so far only to be forced to turn back now? This book is excellent. Even though it is second in the Hannah of Fort Bridger series, it easily stands alone. I was happy to travel along on the wagon trail with her, a place I do not willingly go. Al and JoAnna did a wonderful job with this book. I’m anxious to read the next book in the series.
