Title: Coldwater Revival Author: Nancy Jo Jenkins Publisher: RiverOak ISBN: 1-58919-061-0 Genre: Inspirational/Women/Fiction
Emma Grace Falin has been raised in a large, loving family. Emma was born early, and has a bum leg, but she still manages to keep her parents on their toes, trying to keep her alive and healthy. Emma used to chase after her brother and, as a result, learns to love the great outdoors.
When Emma’s twin brothers, Micah and Caleb, are born, Emma “adopts” them as her own and she takes constant care of them. Emma doesn’t like it when neighbors come to call, because they always want to hold the twins. Emma’s daddy is offered a position as a foreman, so he gets a larger house, and the family moves, but with the move comes a horrible tragedy that Emma can’t stop. Will Emma ever be the same?
Coldwater Revival is another truly wonderful southern fiction novel by new author, Nancy Jo Jenkins. I totally loved this story, but I couldn’t read it without a box of tissues by my side. Emma is real, and treats her brothers the way my older children treat my younger. Ms. Jenkins did an awesome job portraying the dynamics of a larger southern family.
The faith message is expertly woven in. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book, making this idea for small group discussions. I love Coldwater Revival. It’s a story that will stay with the reader for a long time. $12.99. 318 pages. |
