Billy Bannister and Bonnie Silver must call upon some special knowledge they’ve obtained when they are thrust into a multi-dimensional domain of evil. In this horrifying place, they must call upon dragon traits and wisdom as they explore seven equally perilous worlds. Each world is manifested in a circular plane of existence that leads them deeper in the domain of their powerful enemy.

When Billy and Bonnie finally reach the seventh dimension, they meet up with a group of prisoners and somehow Billy and Bonnie must find a way to set them free. But when tragedy waylays them, Billy must make the most difficult decision of his life. Will he be forced to give up his best friend ever?

Circles of Seven is written for preteens and young adults—and maybe that is what it takes to be able to understand the story. It is well written, and there are moments of page-turning excitement, but I never could quite grasp what was going on. Okay, I’m not the best person in the world to review fantasy. I don’t get it. This book is no different for me.

My three-year-old daughter was fascinated by the dragon on the cover of the book, and my thirteen year old son is anxiously waiting for me to finish writing the review so he can read the book—maybe I should have had him write the review, too. The author recommends that the previous two books Raising Dragons and The Candlestone should be read first in order to understand Circles of Seven and that might have helped keep me from being so lost. If you like fantasy, or have a favorite youth that loves fantasy, pick up Circles of Seven today. $12.99. 432 pages
