Title: The Celebrity Author: Robert Elmer Publisher: WaterBrook Press ISBN: 1-57856-741-6 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Fiction
Jamie D. Lane is the most sought-after pop star in the world. Multitalented and handsome, he is every girl’s dream and an eligible bachelor. But Jamie is sick of it all. His mother has just died, he’s burned out, and he’s ready for a vacation. Deadlines loom and his manager insists Jamie hang in there for another couple weeks, then they can go to the Bahamas. But Jamie can’t wait. What will happen if he pretends to be Joe Bradley and just disappears? Is it even possible for someone as highly visible as he to vanish without a trace?
Anne Stewart used to teach Physical Education in the public school system, but a crash involving a drunk driver changed her life. Now she’s blessed to find a job at all—teaching English and helping out in her dad’s donut shop. Anne is full of bitterness and hatred toward the man who she feels ruined her life and keeps comparing the existence she lives now with before . . . and it isn’t pretty. When Joe Bradley hits town, will he help restore her self-confidence and passion for life? Or will she discovers that she has much more to forgive?
The Celebrity is just one of those “oh wow” books that you have to experience. I couldn’t put it down, and hated to see the story end. Jamie is just too real—and I totally fell in love with his character. I also felt for Anne and wanted to see her regain her sense of freedom.
Pick up The Celebrity for an exciting contemporary read that is sure to grip your heart. This is a book for the keeper shelf. $12.99. 294 pages. |
