Title: Cassidy’s Charm

Author: DiAnn Mills
Publisher: Barbour Publishing, Heartsong Presents
ISBN: 1-586-60332-9

Genre: Inspirational/Romance

Cassidy Frazier left New York City to live on her Uncle’s ranch in Texas carrying excess baggage; baggage filled with the guilt of her past. In her heart Cassidy knows that God and her family have forgiven her for cruelties committed before giving her life to Christ. Still, her soul saturated with guilt, she cannot forgive herself.

In small town Brenham she opens a fashion boutique, Cassidy’s Charm, determined to make it a success and thereby prove herself worthy of her family’s love and forgiveness.

Carlos Diaz worked hard to earn his four-point grade average. His plan, one he believes designed by God, is to go on to grad school and then enter politics. But the day he steps into Cassidy’s Charm, to sell his hand tooled leather goods, he discovers that Cassidy Frazier is indeed a charm. After one date Carlos knows he wants to spend more time with her.

Polar opposites - Carlos, obsessively neat and organized and Cassidy, willing to be a bit disheveled in order to sleep in - they bring a quirky sort of balance to each other. Carlos begins to seek God about the possibility of altering his plans, could there be room for Cassidy in his future?

Their relationship survives its first challenge, Carlos’s mother. But Cassidy’s inability to forgive herself for her past sins could prove to be too much. She cares deeply for Carlos and realizes in the cutthroat world of politics there’s no room for someone with a shady past. Perhaps it would be best to do the right thing now and let him go while she still can, but can she?

It’s been my experience in my female friendships that too often they wonder from one tortuous affair to another believing that if they can just find the right man their lives will be complete. The women of the DiAnn Mills ‘Charm’ series are admirable roll models for these wonderers. They know and understand that any relationship in this day and age can only be as strong as the one you have with Christ.
