Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Suspense

Maude Diamond has broken her ankle and had carpal-tunnel surgery, so she’s laid up and feeling useless. She can’t even type on her story, and her book deadline is fast approaching. Her daughter Cee-Cee promised to help after she finished her post office job, but she is busy with the hot new man in town, a kennel owner.

And Maude’s mother-in-law, Stella, is tracking another case, hot on the tail of the last one she solved. Now someone is spying on Stella’s neighbors, and she’s bound and determined to find out who. But they don’t seem to be leaving many clues . . .  a size fourteen sneaker, a woman’s girdle . . .  are these clues planted to confuse Stella and the Sheriff, or are these really strange crooks they are hunting for?

A Case of Nosy Neighbors is book three in A Morning Shade Mystery series, but it easily stands alone. I enjoyed revisiting the quirky, but loveable characters, and getting acquainted with some new characters. The faith message is expertly woven in, and the plot contains non-stop action, keeping the reader involved.

However, as with the other books in this series, I had problems with the setting. The story is set in Morning Shade, Arkansas, an imaginary town near the real life town of Ash Flat, Arkansas. The setting discrepancies are so outrageous, I have to wonder if Ms. Copeland ever visited the area, or if she just stuck her finger on a map of Arkansas and made the area similar to Springfield, Missouri . . . as some of the setting is described like.

Other than the setting issue, A Case of Nosy Neighbors is an excellent story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d like to read more books by this talented author. A Case of Nosy Neighbors is a great book to curl up in an easy chair with and wile away an afternoon. $12.99. 306 pages.
