"How To Refurbish An Old Romance"

by Janet Benery

Brianna Griffith enrolled, under protest, to take a class titled ‘How To Repair Bad Decisions Made Years Ago,’ a home improvement course, taught by a handy lady named Andrea Lewis. When Brianna arrived at the Home and Hearth Superstore, in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, the last person she expected to see was Zachary Wilson. But there he is, big as life and just as handsome as she remembered. Years ago, Brianna broke off their romance in search of a career. Can Zach forgive her for the way she treated her back then?

Zach has moved back to Oak Ridge and opened a travel agency, the same as Andrea. Strange that their career choices turned to be the same when their original plans had been so different.  When he saw Brianna sitting in the front row of the class, he didn’t know whether to run or stay. But then why should he run? After all, it was her choice to break up.

Home improvement stores seems a strange place to find love, but there’s something about Home and Hearth that pulls in people looking for romance. Can Brianna and Zach resolve their differences among the wallpaper books?

An engaging story of love gone wrong, and a determined man’s efforts to make it right. Janety Benery is not just a good agent, she’s a very good writer too.

"Once Upon A Shopping Cart"

by Ron Benery

Kaitlyn Ferrer is an investigative reporter, and a good one, but now she’s received an assignment that makes her cringe. Check out the rumors that home improvement stores like Home and Hearth is the latest place for couples to meet. But an assignment is an assignment, so she takes her trusty recorder and camera woman, Estella Santacruz, Stella to her friends, and off they go to check out the rumors.

Busy concentrating on the large array of brightly lit chandeliers, Kaitlyn slams her cart into the one being pushed by a tall man with a goatee and an amused expression. One thing led to another, and soon they were chatting over coffee. Of course, Katilyn doesn’t give him her real name or phone number. She gets the information she needs for her article, but is Jake Sinclair being completely honest with her?

Ron Benrey proves that a man can write romance with the best of them. "Once Upon A Shopping Cart" is an entertaining story of two people who learn the hard way that honesty is always best. I love the title too.

"Can You Help Me?"

by Lena Nelson Dooley

It wasn’t Austin Hodges fault that Valerie Bradford thought he was an employee at Home and Hearth, but he let the misunderstanding go on far longer than he should have. He did try to tell her a couple of times, but something always interfered.

Valerie is a take charge, do-it-myself kind of woman. When she meets Austin she is furious he doesn’t think she can install the cabinets she purchased by herself. She soon learns he’s right, and is grateful for his help, but will she trust him again after she learns of his deception?

As always, Lena Nelson Dooley uses a deft touch to write an engaging love story. She never disappoints her fans.

"Caught Red-Handed"

by Yvonne Lehman

Laurel Jones was loading plants in her mini-van when she saw a shadowy figure standing among the burlap trees, next to a shed. It was nine o’clock and she had worked late at the Home and Hearth Superstore. The figure moved toward her and she frantically tried to decide what to do. A man, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a brimmed cap walked up to stand beside her rear tire. She noticed he wore a cast on one foot. Thunder and lightning roared overhead. When he asked for a ride to the front of the store, she panicked, grabbing her keys and hurrying around to the driver’s side of the van. She drove off and left him standing in the rain.

Marc Goodson, head of security at Home and Hearth, was furious with himself. He’d been on stake out trying to catch the guys stealing trees and shrubs. Seeing Laurel Jones loading up all those plants after working hours had startled himself into losing his usual common sense. He’d noticed Laurel before, but he never dreamed he might end up having her arrested for stealing.

As Laurel and Marc struggle to overcome their mutual suspicion of each other, unexpected and unwanted feelings begin to surface. Does cupid have a sense of humor?

Yvonne Lehman’s "Caught Red-Handed" is a witty tale of romance that brings Carolina Carpenter Brides to a satisfying end.

Four engaging stories by four good writers. Fans of romance can’t go wrong with this one. It’s a winner.
