Title: Calm, Cool & Adjusted Author: Kristin Billerbeck Publisher: Integrity Publishers ISBN: 1-59145-330-5 Genre: Inspirational/Chicklit
Dr. Poppy Clayton’s life is beginning to fall apart. Her two best friends, Morgan and Lily are either married or getting married and motherhood is close behind, as Lily is expecting and Morgan is going to be an instant mother to her fiancé’s son. Not only that, but Poppy’s father has announced that he’s leaving his home to Poppy to deal with and he’s moving to Arizona.
And what is the problem with Poppy’s choices? Everyone seems to be on her case about wearing her mother’s old gauze skirts all the time. To make matter’s worse, Poppy seems to be obsessed with harassing the plastic surgeon in the office next door to her. And why does she have feelings for her patient with the bad back?
Morgan is concerned about Poppy’s choice of a date for her wedding and she and Lily find the perfect blind date for her. But Poppy is balking. She is hurt because her friends don’t trust her to behave at wedding of the season. Will a trip to the spa help to fix Poppy’s problems? Or will they only magnify them?
Calm, Cool & Adjusted is the third book in The Spa Girls series, and I feel, one of the best. I definitely related to Poppy—kind of. I would never force myself to drink foul tasting health drinks. But Ms. Billerbeck did an excellent job bringing Poppy to life.
The faith message is expertly woven in, although it did seem a bit preachy at times. I also liked the men in Poppy’s life. They were also realistically developed and I picked my favorite early on. I had to keep reading to find out who Poppy would choose. Pick up Calm, Cool & Adjusted. You won’t be disappointed. $13.99. 321 pages.
