Title: Brothers of the Outlaw Trail Authors: DiAnn Mills, Tamela Hancock Murray, Kathleen Miller, and Lynette Sowell Publisher: Barbour Publishing ISBN: 1597893528 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Fiction
The Wilson brothers are outlaws running from the law – but now, they hope to return home and find love. Will their troubles end?
Reuben’s Atonement—by Lynette Sowell: Reuben Wilson is the oldest Wilson boy. He’s been in jail for stealing and selling horses, and now he hopes to make atonement. He’s found God in jail, and returns home to his dying mother. But not everyone in town is convinced that Rueben has changed. Some are out to prove, by whatever means necessary, that Reuben is the same crook he’s always been. Reuben wants to find his brothers and win Charlotte’s love. Will he be able to do both and still prove that he’s changed?
The Peacemaker by Diann Mills: Colt Wilson believes the answers to his problems is money. Newly released from prison, he looks up his former partner, but finds only his widow and her spunky daughters. Anne challenges Colt, and he sticks around to help out. But a murderer is stalking the family…will Colt be able to save Anne’s life?
Outlaw Sheriff by Kathleen Miller Y’Barbo: Caleb Wilson used to be an outlaw, but now he’s saved. When he wanders into Dime Box, Arizona, the community believes he’s the new sheriff. Caleb is happy with this assignment—at least until the real sheriff’s mail order bride arrives. Now Caleb has to decide whether to admit the truth to a trusting town and a bride—or keep the job and gain a wife.
A Gamble on Love by Tamela Hancock Murray: When Benjamin was six years old; his brothers dumped him to live with a prostitute. Now all grown up, Benjamin is a professional gambler. In love with Pearl, he follows her when she goes to care for her sick mother. Mother is a Christian and will have none of Benjamin’s swindling ways. Will Benjamin and Pearl be able to clean up their lives and find more reward in following God?
Brothers of the Outlaw Trail is a compilation of four different romances following the lives of four brothers who left home and their mother to pursue a life of crime. As they got older and some spent time in prison, they began to learn about God and they find love in the process.
I enjoy reading novellas where the characters in each story is related, and I hope to see more of these in the future. The stories were well-written and interesting and held my interest until the end. My favorite story in the collection is Outlaw Sheriff but only because it adds fun and humor to the romance. All the stories are excellent, and this is truly a collection where the whole book is enjoyable and not just one or two. $10.95. 345 pages.
