Genre: Inspirational/Suspense

Young FBI Agent Cassie McKenna has taken a leave of absence from the Bureau to recover from her husband’s untimely death. She’s given up their home and is living simply on a boat. When her partner, Jake Turner, comes out for a visit in an attempt to convince her to come back they witness a boat explosion.

When Cassie refuses Jake’s continuous prodding to return to work they have an argument. The next day, FBI agents are contacting Cassie to see if she knows what happened to Jake. He’s gone missing.

Jake’s throat has been slashed and Cassie is desperate to find the person who did this. Did it have something to do with the boat exploding just as Jake arrived? And what about another man whose body was discovered in eerily similar circumstances?

Bloody Point didn’t seem like it would be much of a read. I put it off for a while, thinking it wouldn’t be too interesting. But when I started reading the book, I was instantly engrossed and couldn’t put the book down. I had to find out what would happen next.

I instantly grew to care for Jake and for Cassie and even a secondary character, Aunt Trudy. The characters are well-developed and real. I love Aunt Trudy. She reminds me a lot of my own aunt. The faith message is expertly woven in and isn’t intrusive. There are some red herrings in the book, but even so, I figured out who the bad guy was by the middle of the story. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have seen a romance develop.

I highly recommend Bloody Point to anyone who loves suspense. This is not a book to be missed. Discussion questions are included at the end. $12.99. 329 pages.
