Title: Blind Dates Can Be Murder Author: Mindy Starns Clark Publisher: Harvest House Publishers ISBN: 0-7369-1486-2 Genre: Inspirational/Cozy/Mystery
Jo Tulip is a single woman full of household hints and handy advice—except when it comes to her love life. When her agent discovers that Jo’s blog gets more traffic when she talks about her love life, then Jo goes to a dating agency. Soon she has a date set up with a dentist. The man who shows up at the date is old enough to be Jo’s father and he seems obsessed with how to remove a purple dye. When the blind date falls dead, Jo is horrified, especially when she discovers her real date in the trunk of the blind dates car. Soon Jo is in the middle of a murder investigation.
Danny Watkins has loved Jo forever, but he doesn’t know how to tell her. Especially since she seems to go from bad relationship to bad relationship. As he tries to help Jo with her investigation he waits for an opportunity to tell her how he feels. Will that moment ever arrive, when the mob starts stalking Jo?
Blind Dates Can Be Murder is the second book in the Smart Chick series, though it easily stands alone. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Clark, but it definitely won’t be my last. I fell in love with Jo, Danny, and the other characters in the book. Even the bad guys are loveable and won my sympathy.
The faith message is expertly woven in and isn’t preachy. I truly loved Blind Dates Can Be Murder and can’t wait to read the other books in the series. Blind Dates Can Be Murder is a quirky, fun read that had me laughing out loud in spots. This book will be going on my keeper shelf. Readers will also want to check out the website, www.TipsfromTulip.com. The story may be fictional, but the website is real. $11.99. 317 pages.
