Title: barthpenn@heaven.org Author: Kevin Scott Collier Publisher: Tweener Press ISBN: 0-9752880-2-4 Genre: Inspirational/Juvenile/Fiction
Bartholomew Penninton is an Angel, 2nd Order, on Cloud Nine, Heaven. He has sent an email to Jordon Mink ordering him to get to Heaven pronto. Jordon is dead, and is staying on Earth because he is upset about something that never was completed during his lifetime.
But Bart sent the email to the wrong Jordon Minks! The Jordon who received the message is only ten-years-old, and he is awed by the fact that an angel actually emailed him. Bart reluctantly begins an e-mail friendship with the boy after Jordon threatens to tell all his friends and family about the emails and print off copies. Bart does some investigations on the ten-year-old and discovers a terrible secret. Will he be able to minister to Jordon and help him learn some important lessons before it’s too late?
While not exactly scriptural, barthpenn@heaven.org is a cute book for kids ages eight- through twelve-years-old. It is entertaining and held my interest, although I could find considerable fault with the theology in this book—but it is fiction. Jordon tells stories about his life in the emails he sends and the reader can see him growing as a person as a result of his email friendship with Bart.
I recommend barthpenn@heaven.org for the tweeners in your life. They are sure to enjoy it. barthpenn@heaven.org is written totally in e-mail format. $10.95. 157 pages.
