Title: Another Chance to Love You Author: Robin Lee Hatcher Publisher: Steeple Hill ISBN: 0-373-78555-0 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance
Monica Fletcher is convicted of the sin of omission when she neglects to tell her ex-fiancé about the child he sired eleven years earlier. Now he is a successful reporter and his first book is a huge hit. Since he’s in Boise, Idaho, on a book signing tour, now is the perfect time to break the news.
Daniel Rourke never wanted to be a father. In fact, his parting words to Monica when they broke up were “Don’t pull that pregnancy stunt on me so we have to get married. I won’t have it.” So Monica suffers in silence. She determines to give the child up for adoption, but when she sees the precious little newborn for the first time she falls in love and decides to keep the baby.
Daniel is furious when he learns he’s a father—angry at Monica for keeping the secret from him and robbing him of years of his child’s life. He doesn’t remember saying the hateful words that Monica remembers so vividly. As he eases into getting to know his daughter gradually, is it possible that he might fall in love with Monica all over again?
Another Chance to Love You was previously released as Hometown Girl in 1999 by another publishing house. This version has been re-edited by the author, adding an inspirational theme to the romance. Even though the inspirational theme was added later, it reads smoothly, like it was meant to be there.
The characterization is well done. Monica is realistic, even though a bit weak when it comes to relationships with her mother and with Daniel. Daniel is understandably bitter about the loss of getting to know his child and it takes awhile for him to get past that.
Robin Lee Hatcher is a popular author and fans will not want to miss Another Chance to Love You. They will not be disappointed by this reissue. Questions are included at the rear of the book making this ideal for small group studies. $12.95. 251 pages. |
