Terra Froese is on the run from an abusive boyfriend. She’s spent much of her adult life going from job to job, man to man, and drink to drink. But now she’s fleeing, and decides to stop and visit her sister, Leslie VandeKeere in Montana. After all, Terra  hasn’t seen Leslie in over a year.

When Terra hitchhikes her way into the small town where Leslie is, she meets an attractive police officer, but she says she isn’t interested in being in a relationship with men now. She goes to get a drink with a woman who gives her a ride, and while there gets into a fight. It’s just a short trip from the bar to the county jail after that.

Leslie comes to bail Terra out, but she isn’t happy about it. Terra is stuck in town until an unknown date, due to her fight, so she has no choice but to stay with Leslie. Will organized Leslie help Terra find herself—and maybe even a lasting love?

All In One Place is the first book I’ve read by Carolyne Aarsen, but I hope it won’t be the last. Written in first person, I was instantly able to relate to Terra, even though she isn’t the type of person I ever was. I didn’t approve of some of her choices, but in spite of the bad things, Terra was a sympathetic character, and kind.

The faith message is weak, but it is there. The writing is a bit passive in places, but the story line is strong enough that the passive writing, while noticed, doesn’t distract from it. I will definitely look at people different after reading this book. Highly recommended. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. $12.99. 286 pages.
