In a heart wrenching, soul warming sequel to the inspirational award winner, Beneath A Southern Sky, Ms. Raney continues the Camfield and Hunter story, with Daria and Nate's daughter, Natalie.

Ms. Raney weaves a gripping story of a desperate young woman searching for her place in this confusing world. Even though I am 40 + years old, I completely identified with Natalie's emotional decisions. Trying to fit into the 'popular' crowd, pursuing a relationship with a young man who does not share her values, culminating in a twist of fate that will forever change the lives of those closest to her, and shroud her in life long regret. When love finally does come Natalie's way, she must choose.

After The Rains   encompasses more than Natalie's story. Readers return to Columbia where her father, Nate Camfield, continues to serve as a missionary to the Timoné people. He remains one of my favorite heroes. Nate's self sacrifice and love for the Lord and family is clear.

Natalie's mother, Daria, and step-father, Cole, share a relationship enduring more than twenty years. Clearly, all involved love Natalie and want to guide her in her tumultuous time, but Natalie's stubborn spirit won't allow it. Only God can ebb and dry the emotional flood saturating everyone in, After The Rains.

In a purely delightful and breath catching ride, Ms. Raney writes a masterful work in After The Rains, bringing the reader across all poignant venues. I cried, laughed, sighed, and found myself actually wanting to pray for the characters. The themes of sacrificial love, repentance and forgiveness makes this a book worth keeping.
