by Vickie McDonough Dancing Word Reviewer Title: Adam's Promise Though a skilled surgeon, Adam is bossy and arrogant, and Kate is sure he thinks her a less than competent nurse. At least he always seems to find fault with her work. So why is it she can't shake her attraction to him? When a break-in leaves Adam shot and fighting for his life, Kate accompanies him back to the States in a Life-flight helicopter. As he lies in a coma from a head wound, Kate can't leave Adam's side. She knows her feelings for him run deeper than they should. At least she can sit by Adam's side until he wakes up and chases her off. Adam wakes up, but to the FBI's dismay, he can't remember anything about the men who shot him. He is shocked to find out the shooters stole drugs from the clinic, and the incident may be related to a heinous drug cartel. He's also surprised to see Kate clinging to his side like an angel of mercy. As his body heals and he struggles to remember the shooting events, his affection for Kate grows. Kate is happy with Adam's growing attentions, but knows once he's well, the cocky doctor will have no need for her, especially if he ever learns of her past. Kate knows she doesn't fit into his wealthy, prestigious world, even if her heart longs to be his. When several attempts are made on Adam's life, Kate struggles with her growing feelings. Will Adam die before she can tell him how she feels? And if she tells him, will he laugh and send her packing? Adam's Promise is the first exciting book in Love Inspired's Faith On The Line series. It starts out with sparks of frustration flying between Adam and Kate, and ends with gunshots and a kidnapping. Right from the start, my attention was engaged in this thrilling story of drug thieves, a man fighting for his life, and unrequited love. First the jungle locale, and then the hospital setting come alive with Ms. Martin's vivid descriptions. At times, I wanted to punch Adam, but getting shot and nearly losing his life show him how conceited he's been, especially since he's a Christian. Kate is a wonderful heroine, showing grace and fortitude in the face of Adam's bullying. Throw in some an evil bad guy determined to kill Adam and a handsome FBI agent equally determined to find the man, and you have an engaging suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed Adam's Promise and look forward to reading the other books in the Faith On The Line series.
