Title: Adam’s Bride Author: Lisa Harris Publisher: Heartsong Presents ISBN: 1-597-89-081-2 Genre: Inspirational/Romance
Adam Johnson’s brother, Samuel, was killed by a Polish immigrant. Burdened with guilt over his own part in the tragedy, Adam turns his anger on all immigrants, particularly the Polish. When Adam rescues lovely Lidia Kowalski from a rabid dog, he appeals to him as no woman ever has, but she’s one of the hated Polish.
Adam takes a nasty fall and Lidia and her brother, Kody, find him lying in the snow. They nurse him back to health. It’s the height of the maple sugar season, and Lidia and Kody leave their jobs in the factory to harvest the sap while Adam is unconscious.
Against his better judgment, Adam is falling in love with Lydia, but his brother’s death stands between them. Judging others based on nationality, race, or for whatever reason, is contrary to God’s Word. Will Adam be able to overcome his prejudice and accept God’s forgiveness?
Lisa Harris’ Adam’s Bride is an indictment against unreasoning prejudice. It’s an intriguing story with complex characters, battling very real problems. I enjoyed it very much.
